Sylvania is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 18,965 at the 2010 census. Sylvania is a suburb of Toledo.
Judge William Wilson and General David White founded Sylvania in 1833, just 30 years after Ohio became a state. It was named for the dense forests that covered the area (Sylvania still has the distinction of being a Tree City).
