South Barre is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Barre in Washington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,242 at the 2000 census.

The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.87% White, 0.24% African American, 0.24% Asian, 0.08% from other races, and 0.56% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.74% of the population.
