Sandy is a city located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, and named after the nearby Sandy River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,385, however the 2006 estimate shows 7,070 people.
The city serves as the western gateway to the Mount Hood Corridor.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.7 km), none of which is covered with water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,385 people, 1,956 households, and 1,431 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,044.9 people per square mile (790.6/km²). There were 2,080 housing units at an average density of 789.8 per square mile (305.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.91% White, 1.15% African American, 0.74% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 1.65% from other races, and 2.14% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.09% of the population.
