Gilliam is a village in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 178 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area.
On May 13, 1908 a tornado struck the community around dinnertime, killing 34 people and devastating the town.
Gilliam is located at 32°49′39″N 93°50′40″W / 32.8275°N 93.84444°W / 32.8275; -93.84444 (32.827585, -93.844388).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 178 people, 71 households, and 47 families residing in the village. The population density was 88.8 inhabitants per square mile (34.4/km²). There were 79 housing units at an average density of 39.4 per square mile (15.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 55.06% White, and 44.94% African American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.
