Alleman is a city in Polk County, Iowa, United States. The population was 439 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Alleman was named for early settler John L. Alleman. It did not incorporate as a city until May 18, 1973, making it the most recent city to incorporate in Polk County.
Alleman is located at 41°49′08″N 93°36′40″W / 41.818968°N 93.611051°W / 41.818968; -93.611051 (41.818968, -93.611051).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.5 km), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 439 people, 140 households, and 132 families residing in the city. The population density was 176.9 people per square mile (68.3/km). There were 142 housing units at an average density of 57.2 per square mile (22.1/km). The racial makeup of the city was 99.32% White, 0.23% Asian, and 0.46% from two or more races.
