About
The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to mimic the waves of surfing. Not until the 1970's, the first concrete skateboard park was made in California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. Today, there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
