The first skaters rode down hills in Carlsbad, CA with clay wheels so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan't good. Not until the 1970's, the first skate park was made in California. No one knew the skateboard park boom was about to begin. Now there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America.
