Skateboarding is a great sport. The first skateboarders took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan't good. The first skatepark was made in California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skate parks that were built in the next few years. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
