Not until the 1970's, the first skate park was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. Thousands skate parks that were built in the next dozen years. Now there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
