Many years later, the first concrete skateboard park was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard park boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skate parks that were built in the next dozen years. Today, there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
