The first skateboarders took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to take their surfing to the streets. Not until the 1970's, the first concrete skateboard park was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard park boom was about to begin. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
