A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a board in the most recent year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the ensuing years the skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture.
