The first skaters rode down hills in Carlsbad, CA with clay wheels to take their surfing to the streets. Many years later, the first concrete skateboard park was made in California. Next the skateboard building boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skateparks that were built in the next dozen years. Now there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
