The first skaters rode down hills in Carlsbad, CA with clay wheels to take their surfing to the streets. Many years later, the first skateboard park was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skateparks that were built in the next dozen years. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, such as Rob Drydek and Shaun White, who have brought it to the main stream.
