About
The first skateboarders took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan't good. The first skate park was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard boom was about to begin. It was thousands of skate parks that were built in the next twenty years. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
